Pan-o-Prog Pariahs? Lakeville Ponders Parade-Perch Place-Saving Policy

'It seems totally unreasonable for me that we have staff out there with a hose un-chalking things,' said Lakeville Mayor Matt Little, according to Sun This Week.

How early is too early when it comes to staking a claim to a place to watch Lakeville's Cruise Night and Pan-o-Prog parade?

The Lakeville City Council discussed possible restrictions on parade-goers putting out blankets, chairs and other possessions as long as a week in advance of the events, according to Sun This Week

“In years past, they’ve done this same thing, but never so early,” Judy Tschumper, director of the Lakeville Downtown Business Association, said at a Sept. 23 council workshop.

Mayor Matt Little expressed skepticism that a new ordinance would rein in all efforts to save spectator spots along the parade route, such as with chalked markings on the sidewalks.

"It seems totally unreasonable for me that we have staff out there with a hose un-chalking things," Sun This Week quoted Little as saying.
