Obermueller Compares Michele Bachmann to Joe McCarthy

Former state legislator Mike Obermueller, who is campaigning to unseat Republican U.S. Rep. John Kline in the Second District, accused Bachmann of "political dramatics."

Congressional candidate  has jumped into the foray over U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann’s recent accusations that  is tied to the Muslim Brotherhood.

According to his statement:

“Michele Bachmann’s baseless personal attacks on Huma Abedin and are exactly the kind of nonsense that people hate about Washington—too much time spent on political dramatics and not nearly enough time getting things done ... Today I stand with the chorus of Democratic and Republican voices that have called these McCarthy-like comments ‘dangerous’ and ‘damaging to our country.’ Washington needs leaders who focus on strengthening the middle class—not ones that engage in these damaging types of political games."

Earlier this week Bachmann accused State Department aide Huma Abedin, Ellison and others of loyalties to the Muslim Brotherhood, which has alleged ties to terrorist groups. Elected officials who have condemned Bachmann’s comments include Speaker John Boehner, former Presidential hopeful and Senator John McCain, and Senator Lindsey Graham, along with former Bachmann campaign manager Ed Rollins.

That said, U.S. Rep. John Kline (R-Lakeville), refused to comment on Bachmann's accusations.
