Meeting Preview: School Board to Set Leadership Structure

Who will be School Board chair? Will the decision have as much drama as last year's vote?

When Lakeville's at 7 p.m. on Tuesday for its first regular meeting of 2012, the first order of business as a group will be to assign its leadership structure for 2012.

Last year, there was a bit of drama as the board . Longtime Chair woman Judy Keliher wanted to keep the post, while Board member Roz Peterson wanted to assume the chair position for the first time. After a couple weeks of delays, Keliher was named board chair.

The vote as to whom will assume this year's leadership roles is the first item on the docket, but not the only thing the board will discuss. The group will also declare who will serve as treasurer, clerk, and vice chair, as well as assign committee posts and set their 2012 pay and stipends.

Beyond administrative matters, the board is expected to hear a report on the 2012-2013 program of studies at both high schools.

When the meeting has is concluded, the board is expected to go into closed session to discuss .

In addition, prior to the regular meeting on Tuesday, the board will also be attending the district-wide Student Recognition Ceremony at 5:45 p.m. at Lakeville South.

Beyond the School Board, the city's Cable TV Board will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at City Hall.

Then at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12, the city's Arts Center Board will meet at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, and the city's Finance Committee will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
