LIVE: Minnesota's Senate to Tackle Vikings Stadium Bill

The Senate now takes up a plan that calls for a $975 million fixed-roof stadium to be built primarily on the Metrodome site in downtown Minneapolis.

The last night to support a $975 million stadium plan that would provide a new facility for the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night.

Now, the State Senate will have a floor hearing and, ultimately a vote on its version of the controversial legislation.

Sen. Dave Thompson (R-District 36), of Lakeville, is firmly in the no-vote column. He's on the record saying passage of the stadium bill is "inconceivable."

As for the House version, forty DFL members and 33 Republicans voted yes. Thirty-seven Republicans and 21 DFLers voted against the House bill.

Rep. Mary Liz Holberg (R-District 36A), of , voted against the bill, but Rep. Pat Garofalo (R-District 36B), of Farmington, voted in favor.

HF1485 now goes to conference committee, where it awaits a companion bill from the Senate. The conference committee would then work out differences between the House and Senate bills.
