Lakeville School Board Chair Judy Keliher Announces Re-Election Bid

Keliher is seeking re-election to a four-year seat on Lakeville's School Board.

Lakeville Area Public District School Board Chair Judy Keliher is seeking re-election this November.

She's been chair-woman of the board since 2006.

Keliher has lived in Lakeville for 26 years and she has four children and two grandchildren. Her daughter attends and her three sons are all graduates of the Lakeville Area Public Schools.

Keliher is committed to delivering a world-class education and knows the current model of education is not financially sustainable. “The best schools will adapt and change while still improving through innovative thinking and programming,” says Keliher. “I believe a sustainable education model that supports a high-quality learning environment while preparing students for our global economy can be created through working together.”

As a small business owner and currently as a District Sales Manager for a major global corporation, Keliher’s business experience will continue to be beneficial in her role on the board of education.  Balancing and reducing budgets, creating efficiencies, improving processes, negotiating, being visionary and innovative, managing workload concerns, and improving communications are just some of the skills needed to continuously improve the Lakeville Area Public School’s high academic achievement while being fiscally responsible and sustainable. 

Keliher led the Superintendent negotiations, resulting in a groundbreaking contract, which has incorporated major contract changes throughout the district in regards to employee benefits.  Keliher practices continuous improvement in her role as a District Sales Manager and she is committed to continuous improvement within the Lakeville Area Public Schools—improving processes and becoming more student focused. Keliher believes in changing the way we do business today while improved outcomes and options for our students and their families.  Keliher supports these positive, systemic changes for the Lakeville Area Public School District as we strive for our vision of a personalized education for every student to meet their diverse needs on their path to success.

Keliher is committed to partnering with businesses, the trades and higher education to open up educational pathways for students.  Continuous learning is a collaborative effort among the learner, family, school and community. It will be important to continue to seek community participation and input in making significant district decisions through surveys, community advisory councils and participation in community forums. 

She has nieces and nephews at Kenwood Trail Middle School and Orchard Lake Elementary. Keliher has served as Chair of the board of education for the past five years and she currently serves on the Gifted Advisory Council, Special Education Advisory Committee and Legislative Committee.
