Lakeville Forming School Road Safety Task Force

Mayor Matt Little has asked residents to contact city officials with areas of concern.

The Lakeville City Council is planning to form a task force on the safety of roads surrounding schools, Mayor Matt Little announced at the Jan. 21 council meeting.

Over the past year, residents have contacted city officials about the safety of roads surrounding schools, Little said. Some of the roads they have received feedback on include Dodd Boulevard, Ipava Avenue, County Road 50 and 210th Street.

"We think it's timely to have a full and comprehensive discussion about school road safety in Lakeville," Little said.

The city would like to form a task force that would include the city, Dakota County and school districts 192, 194 and 196.

The purpose of the task force, said Little would be to "identify issues, create solutions and also to prioritize projects related to school road safety."

The city will discuss the task force at its work session on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Little invited residents to contact city officials, before the work session, with information on problem roads around schools.
