Judy Keliher to Continue as Lakeville School Board Chair

Last year, it took nearly a month to select its leader. This year, it took less than five minutes.

Judy Keliher, who has served as the board's chairwoman since 2006, was voted by the group's members to keep the leadership post for 2012, during the group's regular meeting on Jan. 10.

Board Member Roz Peterson, who last year sought the chair position, offered the only nomination when she suggested Keliher for the post. Board Member Michelle Volk was the only dissenter in the 5-1 vote

“It’s the principle ... any good organization needs to change up its leadership," Volk said.

Last year, . Peterson was nominated for the post as well, and the board was split, 3-3, regarding the appointment.

In addition, the School Board elected Peterson as the 2012 vice chair, Board Member Bob Erickson as treasurer, and Board Member Kathy Lewis as clerk.
