Dave Thompson Doesn't Support Gun Legislation

"I will advocate and vote against any such bills," he said.

Editor's note: The following is a press release from Lakeville Sen. Dave Thompson, (R-District 56).

Yesterday marked the first day of hearings on several “gun bills” that are supported by DFL Members of the legislature. These hearings will continue throughout the week.

“Guns in the hands of law abiding citizens do not endanger the people of Minnesota. In fact, data demonstrate that higher rates of gun ownership help to bring down crime rates." Senator Dave Thompson said.

“Everyone agrees we must do all we can to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals. However, there are already countless federal and state laws intended to control firearms in this country. Restrictive gun laws that apply only to law-abiding citizens do nothing to improve public safety. They simply violate our 2nd Amendment rights and place unnecessary burdens on sportsmen and other responsible gun owners. I will advocate and vote against any such bills.”
