Dakota County Property Tax Payments Due May 15

Tax payments can be made in person at several locations in the county, or mailed to county offices.

Editor's Note: The following is a news release from Dakota County.

Property taxes on Dakota County real estate for the first half are due Wednesday, May 15. Payments mailed to Dakota County must be postmarked by midnight May 15.

According to state law, the County will assess a penalty for late payments. The penalty depends on the tax amount, property classification and when the payment is made. Penalties are listed on the back of property tax statements sent to residents earlier this year.

Tax payments may be made at the Property Taxation and Records Office in the Administration Center in Hastings or at the service desks in the Apple Valley Western Service Center and the West St. Paul Northern Service Center.

The office hours are:

Administration Building – Property Taxation and Records Office
8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

Western Service Center – Service Desk
8 a.m.–4 p.m., Monday through Friday

Northern Service Center – Service Desk
8 a.m.–4 p.m., Monday through Friday

Dakota County offers additional payment options. For more information, please visit the Paying Property Taxes section.
