Woman Who Stole $95,000 from Lakeville Bank Sentenced

Leah Marie Bremner carried out the thefts from May to October 2010.

A Farmington woman who stole $95,000 from a bank in Lakeville was sentenced in Dakota County Court late on Monday.

Leah Marie Bremner, 32, was sentenced to 30 days in prison, 90 days of home monitoring and up to 20 years of probation, according to a news release from the Dakota County Attorney's Office. A judge also ordered to her pay restitution.

In July of this year, Bremner pleaded guilty to one count of theft by swindle, a felony, for the thefts which occurred from May 2010 through Oct. 4, 2010.

She was charged in May, Patch reported:

Bremner admitted to a bank official that she stole money from the bank because her husband had lost his job and her family was having financial problems, according to the complaint.

On Oct. 5, 2010, Bremner reportedly emailed a co-worker to say she had lost her job because of a “stupid decision” and she was “starting to face the reality of what I did and it is something I will pay the consequence for which I am prepared to do.”
