Victim of Lakeville Swindler: 'She Made Me Believe It Was Real'

Victims of a Lakeville rental scam spoke to Fox 9 News.

Lakeville resident Monica Lillemoen was charged last week in a series of  Craigslist swindles. Police say she posed as the owner and landlord of her Lakeville rental in order to defraud people out of security deposits.

"She made me believe it was real," Amanda, one of Lillemoen's victims, told Fox 9. "We talked about kids, we talked about schools. I guess there's a daycare down the street from the house, she went on and on and on about the daycare and how great it was."

But Amanda said that after she payed Lillemoen a $600 deposit, Lillemoen told her the deal was over and disappeared when Amanda attempted to retrieve her money.
