The Second Time Wasn’t a Charm

Here is this week's "Dumb Criminal" feature from Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof.

(This feature is by Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof.)

A subject entered into a local bank and attempted to cash a check for a large amount one afternoon this week. The bank staff recognized the subject as having attempted to cash a fraudulent check at their banking institution a few weeks ago and found that the subject was again attempting to cash a fraudulent check. The bank staff called to request a squad.

Sergeant John Kornmann arrived on the scene and attempted to speak with the suspect, but the suspect fled the interview. Sergeant Kornmann gave chase and the suspect was taken into custody a short while later at a neighboring business. The suspect was jailed and charged with felony forgery. At the time of the arrest, the subject was still wearing an identification bracelet from a previous incarceration at the Hennepin County Jail.
