Restaurant Manager Accused of Stealing Money From Business

A manager at a Lakeville restaurant is accused of stealing money from the business.
Michael James Dayap, 38, of Apple Valley has been charged with felony theft, which is punishable by up to five years in jail and a fine of between $3,000 and $10,000.
According to a Dakota County criminal summons released this week:

Police were called to the restaurant—unnamed in the criminal summons—on March 19 to investigate an alleged theft that occurred there on March 10.
The restaurant’s general manager told police that restaurant documents and surveillance video showed that Dayap, the restaurant’s closing manager on March 9, reportedly stole $1,147 from the nightly deposit. Dayap was confronted to other managers and allegedly admitted to the theft.

Dayap reportedly was called by an officer and admitted to taking the money.
