Porta-Potty, Garbage Can Fires Among 25 Lakeville Fire Department Calls

FIRE REPORT

From Oct. 15 to Oct. 21, the Lakeville Fire Department responded to 25 calls for service including 1 oven fire, 1 dryer fire,1 port-a-potty fire, 1 garbage can fire, 2 unauthorized burns, 6 medicals, 1 motor vehicle accident with injuries, 1 assist police, 3 good intents and 8 false alarms.

FIRE TIP

Halloween events will be occurring this weekend and into next week ... be aware:

• Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult.
• Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you.
• Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating them. Limit the amount of treats you eat.
• Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see you.
• Look both ways before crossing the street. Use established crosswalks wherever possible.
• When driving around be prepared to stop quickly for people in the roadway.
