Police Seek Man Charged With Strangling Lakeville Woman

Lakeville Police are looking for Isidoro Cornelio, Jr., 30, of Farmington, who has been charged with domestic assault by strangulation after allegedly assaulting his Lakeville girlfriend.

Authorities are still searching for a Farmington man accused of assaulting his Lakeville girlfriend and her 7-year-old son.

Isidoro Cornelio, Jr., 30, of Farmington, has been charged with one count of domestic assault by strangulation, and one count of domestic assault, after he alleged attacked his girlfriend in her Lakeville home on Feb. 26.

According to the complaint, Cornelio, Jr. hasn't been apprehended despite numerous attempts by Lakeville police to make contact with him via his home address and telephone.

According to the complaint, early in the morning on Feb. 26, after a night of drinking at a family function, Cornelio, Jr. and his girlfriend began to argue. Upon arriving home, the woman called his sister to come and her and her son.

When Cornelio, Jr. learned of the phone call, the complaint alleges he became enraged and assaulted the woman, knocking her down where she hit her head on the footboard of her bed. He then strangled her, the complaint says.

After the assault, the woman told her son to call 911, but Cornelio, Jr. assaulted the boy, too. The two ran outside into the cold, and Cornelio, Jr. threw a suitcase with the woman's possessions in their direction and locked them out of the residence, the complaint says.

Once outside, the woman called police, and when officers arrived, the observed she had a bump and cut on her head, as well as bruising and swelling around her neck, the complaint said. Cornelio, Jr. had already left the home by the time police arrived.

Cornelio, Jr., was convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault in Dakota County District Court on Dec. 11, 2008.
