Police Arrest Suspect in 2010 Lakeville Robbery

A Burnsville man has been arrested on charges of helping two friends rob a Lakeville man last year of $380 and an undetermined amount of marijuana.

Justin David Aleya, 24, was arrested Wednesday in Lakeville on the robbery charge. He also faces three felony counts of violating probation.

Aleya remained in the Dakota County Jail Friday on a $20,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for Sept. 26 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim and a friend were sitting in the victim’s Lakeville garage on Aug. 7, 2010, drinking beer, when they saw two men walk past.

The victim thought he recognized one of the men, and he invited the two—one of whom was later identified as Aleya—over to the garage. They spent a little time in the garage, then left and came back to the home later that evening with another man, according to the complaint.

At some point during the evening, the three men stood up, and one of them grabbed the victim by the neck and threw him to the ground. A second man and Aleya made sure the victim’s friend didn’t intervene as the first man demanded that the victim give him money and marijuana, the complaint says.

The victim said there was money on top of the refrigerator and in the bedroom. One of the three men told the victim’s friend to “stay put, or things would turn ugly,” according to the complaint.

The victim was escorted to the bedroom by the first man, and the victim’s friend heard “crashing around.” Shortly afterward, the victim was led out of the room, and he and his friend were told to kneel on the floor and put their hands on top of their heads.

One of the suspects kicked the victim’s friend in the back, the complaint says.

All three suspects were later picked out of photo lineups, and Aleya  was identified by his tattoos, according to the complaint.
