One Hour Later, Lakeville Police Give Man Free Ride Back to Jail

Interim Police Chief John Kornmann writes in the Nov. 8 edition of Breezes, the newsletter from the Lakeville Police Department.

In the latest "Breezes" newsletter, interim Chief John Kornmann writes about a man who was arrested an hour after his release from Dakota County Jail.

Lakeville police officers initially arrested the man after responding to a domestic call in the Valley Park area on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 5, according to the newsletter report. When he was released from jail the following morning, he took a cab back to the Valley Park area.

The man left the cab without paying his fare after "a disagreement with the cab driver." Police responded and ended up chasing him on foot before catching him. The area where the cab driver dropped him off violated a no-contact order and he was rearrested: "The ride back to jail was free."
