No Injuries in Jefferson Court Fire in Lakeville

The Monday afternoon fire occurred during a wind chill warning of 40 to 50 below.

The Lakeville Fire Department battled a fire in freezing cold temperatures on Monday afternoon.

The fire department received a call at 12:50 p.m. on Monday from someone who saw smoke coming from the roof of a house on the 17100 block of Jefferson Court, according to a news release from the fire department.

The first crew of firefighters came from stations 3 and 4 and included the fire marshall. When they arrived and found fire and smoke in the back of the home, they requested the assistance of stations 1 and 2. 

The Apple Valley Fire Department was called to cover the city while 15 firefighters from the Lakeville Fire Department stayed at the site to extinguish the fire. They remained there until 5:30 p.m., according to the release.

No one was injured in the fire. Due to smoke and fire damage, the residents were unable to stay in the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
