Neighbor Prevents Spread of Fire in Lakeville Home

The scene of the fire was on the 16700 block of Innsbrook Drive.

A fire in a home on the 16700 block of Innsbrook Drive in Lakeville did not spread further than the kitchen due to the quick actions of a neighbor, the Lakeville Fire Department announced on Friday.

The neighbor went to his neighbor's house on Wednesday, Nov. 6 after hearing calls of "fire." He used a fire extinguisher to stop the fire that was on his neighbor's stove from spreading.

According to the news release from the Lakeville Fire Department:

The Lakeville Fire Department received the call at 3:07 p.m. Lakeville Police arrived on scene and reported that the home was evacuated and that there was smoke on the first floor.

Fire crews arrived on scene and made sure that the fire was out and that it did not extend beyond the kitchen area. Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour to ventilate the home and complete the investigation.

The fire was caused by the stove being unattended while cooking.

There were no injuries to report from the fire. The residents were not able to stay in the home due to smoke damage from the fire.
