Names of Two Teens Injured in Tuesday's Fatal I-35 Crash Released

Jonathan L. Thomas, 16, of Lakeville and Rey Chacon, 17, of Burnsville were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Minnesota State Patrol has released the names of the two other passengers involved in the just north of the Burnsville-Lakeville border Tuesday afternoon.

Jonathan L. Thomas, 16, of Lakeville and Rey Chacon, 17, of Burnsville sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash on Interstate 35, according to a State Patrol media release updated Friday morning. Both were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for treatment.

The name of the driver of the car has not been released by the state patrol. The driver was taken to Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Two teenagers—both students at the —were killed as result of Tuesday’s crash. Frederick Jeffery Alexander, 16, of Burnsville was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:30 p.m crash. Alesha Katherine Roehl, 17, of Northfield died a few hours later at HCMC.

The state patrol says the 1992 Toyota Camry in which the teens were riding in was traveling south on Buck Hill Road when it lost control, rolled down the embankment and landed on the southbound lanes of I-35. Alexander and Roehl were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and were ejected from the car.

The state patrol and Burnsville Police continue to investigate.
