Monday Morning Lakeville House Fire Caused by Lightning

Fire caused moderate damage to the home. Nobody was injured in the blaze.

Nobody was injured, but a Lakeville home was badly damaged in a house fire in early Monday morning that the Lakeville Fire Department says was caused by lightning.

Fire crews responded to the home, located at 16933 Glencoe Ave., at 7:38 a.m. Monday morning after a neighbor called 911 to report the blaze, according to the Lakeville Fire Department. The neighbor also alerted the homeowners who all managed to evacuate without injury.

Lakeville Police on the scene reported seeing smoke and fire coming from the side of the home. The Lakeville Fire Department responded from four stations, including two engines, two ladder trucks, one rescue truck, and 25 personnel. A second alarm was paged for additional manpower.

All told, the home suffered moderate damage to the attached garage and a second story bedroom. There was also water damage in the home.
