Lakeville Woman Strikes Husband's Girlfriend with Bat

Beatriz Fernandez-Cabrera, 37, was arrested in Burnsville.

A Lakeville woman was arrested in Burnsville for beating her husband's girlfriend with a bat.

Beatriz Fernandez-Cabrera, 37, is charged with two counts of second-degree assault in the incident, which occurred on Nov. 13.

According to the complaint, Burnsville police responded to County Road 42 and Summit Ridge Circle and spoke with the victim. She told police that she was driving on County Road 42 when Fernandez-Cabrera began crashing into her vehicle. 

The passenger in the victim's car was the husband of Fernandez-Cabrera, but the two were no longer living together. He told police that Fernandez-Cabrera crashed into the vehicle three to four times before their vehicle spun out. He said that he then exited the vehicle to try to stop her.

Fernandez-Cabrera hit the victim multiple times with a bat, according to the complaint. Police found an aluminum bat near the victim's vehicle. The victim was hospitalized and treated for a skull fracture and abrasions.

Police later found Fernandez-Cabrera in her vehicle with an open bottle of wine and multiple bill bottles. She became lethargic as she spoke to them and told police that she had taken several pills. She was hospitalized.

Fernandez-Cabrera is currently at Dakota County Jail. If convicted on both counts, she could spend up to 17 years in prison and receive a fine up to $34,000.
