Lakeville Woman Charged with Stealing $2,000 from Employer

Police say Angela Stephanie Berg stole $2,000 from the Burnsville bank in which she worked.

A Lakeville woman has been charged with stealing $2,000 from the Burnsville bank that employed her last year.

Angela Stephanie Berg, 19, is charged with felony theft, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, Burnsville police were called to TCF Bank in the 300 block of Travelers Trail East on Sept. 15, 2011, to investigate a theft.

The bank manager told police that Berg, who worked at the bank, had stolen $2,000 while she was working on the evening of Sept. 14.

The manager said that when Berg was confronted about the missing money, she admitted that she had stolen it for personal gain.

Berg called her boyfriend and told him to bring the money to the bank so she could return it, the manager told police. However, when Berg’s boyfriend arrived, he returned only  $500 and denied knowing where the rest of the money was.

Berg refused to give a statement to police.

Berg is scheduled to make a first appearance on the charge Oct. 15 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
