Lakeville PD Talk New Rides on YouTube

The Lakeville Police Department will trade in their Crown Victorias for SUVs over a period of several years.

The Lakeville Police Department is in the midst of updating police vehicles, the department notes in a recent video on YouTube.

The multi-year program will replace older vehicles with a Ford Police Utility SUV. The extra room on the inside of the SUVs, compared to the department's current police cars, will allow officers more space to store equipment, Lakeville Sgt. Bill Gerl says in the video.

The new SUVs have other benefits as well, such as better fuel efficiency and an all-wheel drive system.

Currently the department has nine of the new SUVs on the fleet, according to the information in the video.
