Lakeville Man Convicted in Theft Cases
Matthew Dyllon Danay pleaded guilty to stealing a bike worth $2,200 and, in a separate incident, to possession of burglary tools.
A Lakeville man was convicted and sentenced in two theft-related cases, including one that involved the theft of a $2,200 bike.
Matthew Dyllon Danay, 18, pleaded guilty to theft and to possession of burglary and theft tools, both felonies. A misdemeanor charge of tampering with a vehicle was dismissed.
He was sentenced to three years of probation with conditions and 45 days in jail. He received credit for 30 days served, released from jail and will complete sentencing to service.
Danay was arrested in Lakeville on Dec. 9 after a resident called police to report a suspicious person walking between houses, according to the complaint. Police officers followed the tracks in the snow, which led to Danay. He ran from police, but was arrested after officers found him hiding in a bush.
He had with him a flashlight, small folding knife, empty backpack and a window punch. Danay admitted to carrying the items and to intending to break into homes and vehicles, according to the complaint.
Danay also admitted to stealing a bike from a vehicle, according to the complaint. Police found the bike after the owner saw it for sale online. Danay told police he knew the bike would be sold.
