A Lakeville man was charged with first-degree murder stemming from a case involving the 1999 murder of an Iowa woman, according to news reports.
Deshaun Lamont Phillips, 34, was charged on Friday after new information emerged, possibly connecting him with the murder of Judith Kay Weeks, according to Sun Newspapers.
The 44-year-old Cedar Rapids woman was found partially clothed underneath the fire escape in the back yard of a vacant apartment building in Cedar Rapids. She appeared to have been struck in the forehead with a sharp object, according to the Pioneer Press.
Investigators have not revealed the new evidence they found regarding the case. Phillips was in Scott County Jail on a domestic assault charge when he was charged in Weeks' murder, according to the Pioneer Press.
