With the recent snowfall and cold weather, the ice is still not thick enough for most recreational activities.

FIRE TIP

Keep off the ice.

With the recent snowfall and cold weather, the ice is still not thick enough for most recreational activities. Currently, layers of snow are insulating already brittle ice making it even more dangerous.

Clear ice thickness recommendations are:

  • 4 inches for walking
  • 5 inches for a snowmobile or ATV
  • 8-12 inches for a car
  • 12-15 inches for a medium-sized truck
