The Lakeville Fire Department handled 24 calls for service between May 13 and May 19.

From May 13 to May 19, the Lakeville Fire Department responded to 24 calls for service; 5 medicals, 1 motor vehicle accident with injuries, 2 gas leaks, 10 false alarms, and 6 good intents.

Be careful when staining wood....

• Spontaneous combustion can occur in piles of rags used to apply stains. Here are some safety tips to help prevent accidents from happening:
• Separate and spread out rags in a well-ventilated area for 24 hours to completely dry; or,
• Wash in a solution of soap and water and hang dry in a well-ventilated area; or,
• Store in an airtight metal can, filled with water and placed away from any combustibles.
• Oil based stains and paints should not be stored inside the house.
