DUMB CRIMINAL: It’s Wise to Always Carry Cab Fare

A suspect wanted on several warrants reportedly skips out on a cab fare.

Editor's Note: The following "Dumb Criminal" feature is from Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof's weekly newsletter, "Breezes."

If you have active arrest warrants out for you, it is probably not a good idea to attract the attention of police by trying to skip out on a cab fare. That is what happened one night this week when Officers Sarah Parr and Jim Stevens responded to a “no pay” call from a cab stopped in a residential area in Lakeville. The cab driver told the officers that the male suspect had the cab pull up to the residence and said that he was going to go and get money to pay the fare from the house, but ran away. Unfortunately for the suspect, he was quickly tracked down at a residence just a block away by the two officers. The suspect was found to have multiple active arrest warrants out for him. The officers arrested him on the warrants and the additional charge of Theft of Services.
