'Don't Shoot, I've Been Shot': Lakeville Police and Fire Train for Hostile Situations

The police department released a video Tuesday of its hostile event training.

The Lakeville police and fire departments came together recently for a training session on how to jointly respond to a high-stakes hostile event such as a hostage situation or an active shooter.

In the scenarios, based on violent events in Israel and on the Event Signage shooting in Minneapolis, police officers and firefighters interacted with people roleplaying victims in an office environment.

"Don't shoot, I've been shot," one roleplayer shouted.

The police department released a video of the training, viewable above or on YouTube.

"The purpose of it is to train the Lakeville Police Department on how to, first and foremost, make a scene safe," Jason Polinski, Lakeville Police Sergeant, said in the video. "And secondly, and equally important, we're training cops on how to get people who are wounded out of the building and get them to medical care."
