Dakota County Sheriff's Office Canine Gets Bullet-Proof Vest

The vest will also protect the dog from stab wounds.

A canine at the Dakota County Sheriff's Office has received a bullet and stab protective vest from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. and a couple from Inver Grove Heights.

The couple, Susan and Keith Ogorek, contacted Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. to find out about canines in Minnesota in need of a vest, according to a news release from the Dakota County Sheriff's Office. From there, they connected with Deputy Brian Smidt and canine Cado, a German Shepherd.

Cado is one of 18 law enforcement dogs in Minnesota that will receive a vest from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Massachusetts. The vest will also protect Cado from blunt force trauma, according to Sheriff Dave Bellows in the news release.
