Charges Possible After Dump Truck Rolls Over in Lakeville

Lakeville's police chief says charges are likely for driver of dump truck that rolled on Highview Avenue and County Road 46 on July 25.

Charges are likely for the driver of a dump truck that rolled over on July 25 at the intersection of County Road 46 and Highview Avenue.

Lakeville Police Chief Thomas Vonhof said traffic and commercial vehicle violations are likely once the Minnesota State Patrol Commercial Vehicle Inspector finishes the investigation as to how and why the truck flipped.

Vonhof said the driver, who along with a passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash, told officers at the scene that the truck may have been overloaded.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on July 25. According to Vonhof, the truck was traveling westbound on County Road 46 when the driver approached a red light at Highview Avenue but couldn't stop. The driver tried to make a left turn onto Highview Avenue to avoid traffic, but was moving too fast and rolled the truck. Vonhof said the truck ended up lying completely upside down with its contents of concrete spilled out onto the sidewalk and shoulder of the roadway.

It's not clear when the investigation, which is still ongoing, would be completed.
