Shortly after 4:00 a.m. [Aug. 9], a Lakeville patrol officer on patrol near the downtown area of Lakeville observed an open garage door on a residence with the adjacent service door open. The officer made contact with the homeowner and discovered that there were items missing from the home and that a residential burglary had just occurred.

Additional Lakeville officers responding to assist made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle and two individuals fled from the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, the officers found the missing property from the burglary and additional property which was found to have been stolen from a second home nearby. A search was initiated by the officers and the two suspects were taken into custody, not far from the location of the burglary by around 0435 a.m.

At about 0600 a.m., a possible third suspect was observed in the area by a resident who had called in to report a suspicious person in a yard. Officers responded and the suspect fled into a wooded area. Multiple police units responded and conducted an extensive search of the area of 210th Street and Dodd Blvd in Lakeville with police K- 9 units and the assistance of the Minnesota State Patrol helicopter. The officers continued the search until 1230 p.m.

The Lakeville Police were assisted by units from the Farmington, Apple Valley, and Bloomington Police Departments, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. The case remains under investigation by the Lakeville Police Department. Anyone with additional information is requested to contact the Lakeville Police Department at 952-985-2800.
