Applications for Dakota County Explorers Program Due. Oct. 18

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office helps run the program.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office will accept applications for the Explorers Program until Oct. 18.

The program is for teenagers and young adults ages 14-20 and the purpose is to teach skills related to law enforcement and criminal justice careers. Students will learn about community policing, first aid and crime prevention, according to information on the Dakota County Sheriff's Office website.

To be eligible for the program students must: 

  • Have completed the 8th grade
  • Pass a background check
  • Maintain a C average or better
  • Pass a six month probationary period
