It's the middle of the week; are you wishing for the weekend yet? Plan ahead with this week's line up of events.

Bring the kids:

1. Minnesota State Fair

Where/When: Minnesota State Fairgrounds, St. Paul; 6 a.m. - 12 a.m. through Sept. 5.
Why Go: See south metro artist Anthony Caponi's piece, "Rabbit," in the Fine Arts Building, eat deep fried things on a stick or enjoy the other bizzare and wonderful sights and scents at the great Minnesota get-together.
Pricing: $12 for adults; $10 for seniors or kids age 5-12; 5 and under free.

Where/When: Lakeville Area Arts Center, Lakeville; Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

3. "Faces of New America"

Where/When: Burnhaven Library, Burnsville; Galaxie Library, Apple Valley; Sept. 1 - 30.
Why Go: Photographs of second and third generation American's tell the story of New America.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Dakota Lodge, West St. Paul; Friday, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Why Go:  Bring the family for games, scavenger hunts, bonfires, snacks and more.
Pricing: Free.

5. Square Dance-a-thon

Where/When: Walker Arts Center, Minneapolis; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Why Go: Old-fashioned square dancing, art making and the rest of the Walker are yours for free.
Pricing: Free.

Leave the kids:

6. Weezer

Where/When: Minnesota State Fair Grandstand, St. Paul; Saturday, 7 p.m.
Why Go: Take the kids to the fair, then take them to grandmas and enjoy a night with this blast from the past (and present).
