Retired Lakeville Police Officer Dies at 90

James Jensen had a 30-year career at the police department and has a park named after him.

James Russell Jensen, of Lakeville, died peacefully at his home on Oct. 11 at the age of 90.

Russell joined the Lakeville Police Department in 1956, according to Sun Thisweek. He patrolled downtown Lakeville on foot and knew the business owners there.

When he retired in 1986, the city named a park after him: James Jensen Park.

”He liked to show it to people,” Jensen's brother, Vernon Jensen, told Sun Thisweek. “Friends would come to town and he always liked to take them there to the park.”

Jensen is preceded in death in 2004 by his wife of 57 years. He is survived by his daughter, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
