Birding Hike along the River Bluffs

Join top-notch local birder Kevin Smith and FMR conservation staff for a hike through the 3M-owned fields and natural areas along the Mississippi River in Cottage Grove during migratory bird season.

This natural area is not normally accessible to the public. After meeting at the facility (registrants will be emailed directions to the meeting spot), participants will travel by bus to the hike area. During the 1.5-hour walk along the wooded bluff above the river and some wetland areas, participants should see many songbirds. There will also be stops to see an eagle nest, a recently installed osprey tower, and a falcon nest box complete with live-cam.

This hike is free, however advance registration is both required and highly recommended as bus capacity is limited.

For registration instructions, please visit the event webpage:http://fmr.org/participate/ongoing/bird_hike_oak_woodlands_2014-05-17
