UPDATE: Valley Lake Beach Reopens

The beach closed July 19 because of elevated e. coli bacteria levels.

UPDATE, JULY 30: The Lakeville Parks and Recreation Department released the following statement on its Facebook page Tuesday morning:

Valley Lake Beach is once again open. Retesting of water samples has occurred and are now acceptable for public swimming.

ORIGINAL STORY, JULY 19: Lakeville Parks and Recreation Director Brett Altergott released the following press release on Friday afternoon:

The City of Lakeville has closed the Valley Lake beach because test results of the water show E. coli bacteria above acceptable levels. Re-testing of water samples will occur daily until the levels are acceptable for public swimming. Check the City website atwww.lakevillemn.gov for updates.
