Three Winning Mega Millions Tickets Sold, None in Minnesota

Well, the jackpot worth $640 million will be split three ways after officials announced winning tickets were sold in Maryland, Illinois and Kansas. Sorry, Minnesota.

The winning numbers were 02-04-23-38-46, and the Mega Ball 23.

According to lottery officials, Americans spent nearly $1.5 billion for a chance to hit the jackpot, ballooning the prize to $640 million—the world's largest lottery payout of all-time. If just one winner had claimed the prize, the $462 million lump sum payout would come to around $347 million after federal tax withholding.

The jackpot size blows the pants off the $229 million Powerball jackpot ticket sold at a  in Lakeville last summer.

The prize was so enormous that a single person could have purchased each of the 176 million number combinations, and still walked away with $171 million.
