Rapid Lakeville-Bloomington Bus Line to Open June 22

The "bus-rapid transit" line is designed to imitate the reliability of light-rail, with buses running in dedicated lanes.

The new high-speed Cedar Avenue "busway" between Lakeville and Bloomington Cedar Avenue will begin service June 22, the Star Tribune is reporting.

The route will be the Twin Cities' first bus-rapid transit (BRT) line. The busway is designed to imitate the reliability of light-rail, with buses running in dedicated lanes stopping at roadside stations.

The line, originally set to open in November 2012, has been delayed multiple times.
