UPDATED: Motorcyclist Killed in Crash near Lakeville-Apple Valley Border

The victim died at the crash scene, on 160th Street and Harwell Avenue, on Thursday night.

A woman is in custody following a two-vehicle crash near the Lakeville-Apple Valley border that killed a motorcyclist Thursday night.

The crash happened at about 8 p.m. Thursday on 160th Street (County Road 46) and Harwell Avenue, according to KARE11.com and WCCO.com.

The motorcyclist—a 29-year-old Burnsville man, says the Pioneer Press—died at the scene.

The Dakota County Jail website on Friday morning says Apple Valley police arrested a woman at 8:05 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of four charges: felony criminal vehicular homicide-under the influence of alcohol, gross misdemeanor third-degree driving while impaired, gross misdemeanor driving after driver’s license cancellation and a misdemeanor open bottle violation. She was being held at the county jail.

The Pioneer Press identified the suspect as Leah Marie Colwell, 44, of Lakeville.

The woman is scheduled to make her first appearance in Dakota County District Court in Hastings at 4 p.m. Friday.

This is the second fatal crash involving a motorcycle in or near Lakeville in the past week. Last Saturday, a 26-year-old Claremont, MN man died in a crash on Cedar Avenue near 202nd Street.

Lakeville Fire Department personnel were among those who responded to the scene of Thrusday's crash.
