Lakeville South Finishes Second in Class 2A Girls Track Meet; Lakeville North 10th

The Lakeville South High School girls track and field team finished second in the Class 2A state championships on Friday and Saturday at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Lakeville North finished in 10th place.

Here are the top 10 team finishers in the girls meet, according to the Minnesota State High School League website:

1. Minnetonka, with 94.5 points; 2. Lakeville South, 79; 3. Prior Lake, 42; 4. Eagan, 37; 5. Bemidji, 35; 6. Hopkins, 34; 7. Cretin-Derham Hall, 30; 8. Shakopee, 29; 9. Eastview, 28; 10. Lakeville North, 27.

Lakeville South was the defending Class 2A champion, while Minnetonka came in second last year.

INDIVIDUAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR SLATTERY

Lakeville South sophomore Caralina Slattery won an individual state championship in the high jump. Slattery recorded two jumps of 5 feet, 8 inches to win the state crown.

She also placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles finals and sixth in the triple jump.

LAKEVILLE SOUTH’S TOP PERFORMANCES

In addition to Slattery, here are the top individual performances for Lakeville South in the state finals:

• 4x800 meter relay team of Emma Mickelson, Julia Durham, Erin Kilbride and Andrea Brekken, 12th place.

• 4x200 meter relay team of Rose Cozad, Haley Lubow, Emily Wick and Rachel Mickelson, fourth.

• Kaytlyn Larson, fifth in the 1600 meter run and fourth in the 800 meter run.

• 4x100 meter relay team of Kacy Rodamaker, Alisha Skluzacek, Emily Wick and Mallory Butchko, eighth.

• Shaina Burns, fifth in the 300 meter hurdles, eighth in the long jump and third in the shot put.

• 4x400 meter relay team of Rose Cozad, Haley Lubow, Caraline Slattery and Rachel Mickelson, third.

• Morgan Pieri, third in the high jump.

• Jordyn Thornton, seventh in the shot put and sixth in the discus throw.

LAKEVILLE NORTH’S TOP PERFORMANCES

Here are Lakeville North’s top performances in the state finals:

• Michaela Preachuk, second place in the 100 meter hurdles.

• Lindsey Smits, seventh in the 100 meter hurdles and 17th in the triple jump.

• 4x100 meter relay team of Emily Okins, Kendall Naatjes, Claire Seivert and Alexa Trakalo, second.

• Taylor Perkins, 16th in the 3200 meter run.

• Katie Dillie, sixth in the high jump.
