Lakeville North Robotics Team Raising Money to Compete in World Championship

The team is looking to raise $6,000 to travel to St. Louis in late April.

A team of six Lakeville North High School students are looking to raise $6,000 to travel to St. Louis, Mo., and compete in the world championship FIRST Tech Challenge competition.

The Lakeville team, called "Team Fish in the Boat," qualified for the world championship by winning the "Inspire Award" at the Wisconsin state tournament competition. In FIRST Tech challenges, student-designed robots are pitted against each other in races to complete simple tasks.

“I’ve been with some of these kids for eight years,” the team's volunteer coach, Scott McDowell, told Sun Thisweek. “I believe in the program and the kids who are willing to put the time in. To be able to go into the world championship is an awesome challenge. We’re looking forward to it.”
