Lakeville DFL Planning August Picnic and Silent Auction

The DFL is planning its annual fundraising picnic.

DFL Senate District 58 is planning for its annual August fundraising picnic, and it looks like this year it will be bigger than ever.

Steve Quist, the district chair, is working with the DFL District 56 chair to combine picnics this year into a blowout event at Lac Lavonne Park on the border of Burnsville and Lakeville.

We have "hopes of getting a much larger crowd, and a couple big name politicians," he wrote in an email to Senate District 58 Democrats.

Here's more from Quist's email about plans for the picnic's silent auction:

Tied to that, I have been trying to think of some bigger potential silent auction items, and one thing came to mind, a mini wine cellar.  Maybe a case or two cases of various wines, 24 to 48 bottles of wine, to be sold as a package.  I’m hoping people can begin thinking of a bottle or two to donate that they like, or a bottle or two that they have that they don’t like and wouldn’t mind getting rid of.  I’ll begin accepting donations as early as the next meeting, so bring a bottle to share for the auction.  By the way, please don’t donate a $100 bottle of wine.  First because I’m not sure we would get the value back, so lower prices are better, and two, because I know nothing about wine, and I don’t want to assume the person buying it does either.  I’d hate for some special wine to end up as a chaser for a bag of Dorito’s because I don’t know any better.  Of course that brings up the question, what wine goes with a bag of Dorito’s…
