At 4 p.m. today, July 24, the Slow No Wake Zone requirements on Lake Marion will be lifted and will no longer be in effect.

"No Wake Zone" requirements were put into effect following heavy rain on July 13.

ORIGINAL STORY, JULY 15:
The City of Lakeville on Saturday issued a "Slow No Wake Zone" for Lake Marion, effective immediately.

Here is the press release announcing the lake restriction:

Due to high water levels, Lake Marion is now under a Slow No Wake Zone, which will continue for at least the next three days. This designation has been posted at the public access.

As required by City Ordinance, when the level of the lake exceeds 983.6 feet, any person operating a watercraft on Lake Marion is subject to the Slow No Wake Zone requirements. These requirements mean that it is unlawful to operate any watercraft on the lake in excess of the slow minimum wake speed, which is defined as the “slowest speed possible while still maintaining steerage control.”

Wake restrictions are implements to protect the shoreline. The Slow No Wake Zone ordinance will be enforced by the Dakota County Sheriff’s Department.

When high water levels have subsided and remained below the elevation of 983.6
feet for three consecutive days, the Slow No Wake Zone restrictions will be lifted and posted signage will be removed.
