Air Pollution Health Advisory Cancelled for Lakeville, Twin Cities

Increased cloud coverage is expected to slow the production of ozone pollution.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has cancelled the air pollution health advisory issued for the Twin Cities metropolitan area and Rochester for Friday, June 29. A storm system developing in the Dakotas is promoting cloud formation across Minnesota today. The increased cloud coverage is expected to slow the production of ozone pollution.

As a result, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to be in the mid-moderate AQI range today, which is below the threshold for an air quality alert.

Through the weekend, forecasted high temperatures and the presence of wildfire smoke in the region will continue to enhance the creation of ozone. Over the next six days the AQI forecast is: Friday–77, Saturday –84, Sunday –87, Monday –84, Tuesday – 61, and Wednesday –67.
