Celebrating 30 Years in Business

Terre's Tots Child Care serving residents of Lakeville, MN is celebrating 30 years in business this year.   Owner and operator, Terre Britt, opened the doors of in-home daycare to the community in 1983.  It was in 1980 that Terre founded her company, but it wasn't until 1983 that she moved her operation to a residence she specifically designed and built for providing child care.

"I'm just very proud of the fact that I have been able to be a positive influence in the development of so many children. It's extremely rewarding" said Terre.  "Throughout my 30 years in Child Care many trends and theories in Early Childhood Development have come and gone, but the one constant that always remains is that children learn best through play.  A play-based curriculum is what we've been doing and that seems to be why we have had long-term success.  Terre's Tots provides children the opportunity to laugh, play, and grow in a structured, nurturing and safe environment that supports learning and development.  Play skills are life skills and that's what we do."

Since its inception Terre's Tots has been serving residents of Lakeville and throughout the years Terre has seen many of her Lakeville preschool students develop from toddlers to community leaders with businesses of their own.  Today Terre still maintains a small family environment day care because she feels that's part of what children need to succeed.  "I've had opportunity to expand, but I don't believe that is in the best interest of the children" explained Terre.  "I enjoy being a small in-home facility, I have had success with it, and most importantly, this environment works really well for children."
