County Road 70 in Lakeville to Close for Repaving Project

County Road 70 is being repaved this summer from Kensington Boulevard to Cedar Avenue.

County Road 70 in Lakeville between Kensington Boulevard and Cedar Avenue will be be closing on June 11 for a massive repaving project that will last through August.

The project will be split up, and detours will be posted, but travel into Lakeville's Air Lake Industrial Park from Interstate 35 will likely be most affected through the summer.

The work is being done through a process called Full Depth Reclamation where the existing pavement is pulverized and blended with a portion of the underlying gravel. The reclaimed material is then spread, shaped and compacted to produce a uniform graded base for new pavement. Crews will then add several layers of new pavement on top of the reclaimed material.

This process is being used because paving over the existing pavement would not correct the cracking, according to Dakota County. In addition to the reclamation and paving on County Road 70, a new turn lane will be constructed at Cedar Avenue resulting in a left turn lane, a thru lane, and a right turn lane for eastbound traffic. This improvement is being made to accommodate future development.

Detour signs will be posted through the summer as the project advances.
