Container Firm to Open Lakeville Plant

Plans for Consolidated Container Company's facility in the city still are in development, but local jobs are expected to be created.

More new jobs appear to be headed to Lakeville.

Last week, Consolidated Container Company, an Atlanta-based firm, announced that it would open a manufacturing plant in Lakeville.

According to a company press release, CCC will sign a lease for a manufacturing site and “begin the installation and build-out of a multi-line production plant.” The build-out is expected to be completed by mid-2013.

CCC spokesperson Richard Sehring told Twin Cities Business last week that the company is still “developing our plans” for the Lakeville facility. He did not speculate on how many jobs would be created locally.

He said CCC “will definitely have to hire at the facility,” according to Twin Cities Business.

CCC made a lot of news last week, as it also announced its intention to purchase Moorhead-based Roffe Container.

CCC is not related to the Minneapolis company Consolidated Container Company.

Here is the text of the press release announcing CCC’s Lakeville plant:

Consolidated Container Company (CCC) announced today its intention to acquire substantially all of the assets of plastic container manufacturer Roffe Container, located in Moorhead, Minnesota. CCC will also sign a separate lease for a manufacturing site and will begin the installation and build-out of a multi-line production plant in Lakeville, Minnesota, just outside of Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

Jeffrey Greene, President and Chief Executive Officer of CCC, said, “One of CCC’s unique competitive advantages is our nationwide manufacturing platform, and this acquisition expands that network into one of the few geographic areas where we do not have a presence. The addition of the Moorhead facility and the opening of a greenfield in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area enhance CCC’s ability to serve key regional and national customers in the dairy and industrial markets in the Upper Great Lakes and Northern Great Plains regions.”

Tom Janas, owner and president of Roffe Container, stated, “The timing of this transaction and CCC’s commitment to growing in the region aligned perfectly with our objectives. This is an exciting outcome for the employees and customers of Roffe Container.”

The acquisition is expected to close in the coming weeks, and CCC expects to complete the initial build- out of the Lakeville facility by mid-2013.
