UPDATE: Tornado Watch Cancelled; Storms Still in Forecast

Rain, wind and hail are in the offing for Lakeville and the rest of the Twin Cities metropolitan area overnight Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Even though the National Weather Service  cancelled a tornado watch for the Twin Cities metropolitan area at about 10 p.m. Tuesday, it still could be a stormy night in Lakeville.

According to the weather service’s short-term forecast issued at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a line of thunderstorms battering southwestern Minnesota in the early-evening hours was heading toward the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Heavy rain, winds in the 40- to 50-miles-per-hour range, hail and potentially a tornado could result from the storm system, the weather service says. Storms could be in the Dakota County area between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m.
